On 18 Aug 2024, AGWO have launched the Kabaddi Alliance of Singapore, graced by Mr Tung Yui Fai, Chief of ACE Group, MOM at Cochrane Recreation Centre to promote Kabaddi among migrant workers in Singapore. Since 2021, AGWO has conducted regular Kabaddi tournaments, encouraging, motivating and developing migrant workers to take up this team sport and practice regularly at the recreation centers.
Till date, More than 120 Kabaddi teams were formed among migrant workers, and 42 Kabaddi teams competed at the launch day tournament.
The formation of KAS aims to create opportunities for recreation, social interaction and community building in a supportive environment for all migrant workers. Approximately 7000 migrant workers were present on 18 Aug as Kabaddi players and spectators.
