Deepavali Gifts and Celebrations for Guest-worker Brothers

AGWO

Updated: Nov 7, 2024

Through the support from Dorm Mums, our guest-worker brothers celebrated Deepavali in Singapore with the community, which reminded them of home. Beyond the gifting of festive meals, the Dorm Mums also made Rangolis decorations and lit diya lamps with our guest worker brothers, a symbol of light that triumphs over darkness—the overarching meaning behind Deepavali (or Diwali).

Rev Samuel Gift Stephen, Lead Director of the Alliance of Guest Workers Outreach (AGWO), shares with the guest-worker brothers:

"We want you to know that you are appreciated... On behalf of sister Priya (founder of Dorm Mums) and myself, we want to say thank you for building Singapore and thank you for all the work that you do."

May we also illuminate the warmth and kindness to the guest-worker brothers living amongst us.

Happy Deepavali!
