Sunday night was definitely a night to remember for the 350 guest workers who attended our inaugural Banquet of Appreciation!
We would like to extend our deepest thanks to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Heng Swee Keat, for gracing the event as the Guest of Honour.
Apart from guest workers—from 9 different nations—over 100 employers, government agencies, corporations, and other partnering organisations were also present.
As a Bicentennial initiative, the banquet serves as an effort to recognise and appreciate guest workers for their labour and contributions over the years, as well as an opportunity to cultivate a synergistic spirit in caring for them.
In addition to inaugurating the AGWO, the DPM also launched subsequent AGWO Feasts of Appreciation—which will be held around Singapore from October to December, as a gesture of gratitude to guest workers.
The banquet was made possible through the gracious sponsorship of the Ng family, Far East Organization and Fullerton Hotel.
AGWO is an initiative of the Hope Initiative Alliance (HIA), in partnership with various Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs), civil organisations, corporations, professional bodies, guest worker dormitories, and government agencies.
