COMMUNITY
An important part of everyday life is being surrounded by a tight-knit community, to provide us with a sense of belonging and integration. As guest workers in a new society, many of them grapple with feelings of homesickness and alienation—being unacquainted with lifestyles and the way of life in Singapore.
Aiming to increase integration levels among guest workers—to help them feel more comfortable while working and living here—the Alliance of Guest Workers Outreach (AGWO) will work with religious organisations as well as social integration agencies to meet their needs, that fall within the ambit of cultural and religious parameters.
Partners will include the Interreligious Organisation (Singapore), as well as iFriend, a platform to connect Singaporeans with guest workers—facilitating the bridging of cultures through food exchanges and more.
We will also be organising visits to places of interest in Singapore, that are rich with Singaporean culture and history—so as to provide them with a better understanding of Singapore.
